The Charlotte Piano Trio will be performing Sunday, May 28, at 6 p.m. in CPCC's beautiful Tate Hall (1206 Elizabeth Avenue).
This Memorial Day Weekend, the Trio will be performing three legendary works:
RACHMANINOFF: Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G minor
PIAZZOLLA: Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
SHOSTAKOVICH: Trio No. 2 in E minor
In each work, the composer honors but builds upon the memory of three inspirational musical figures: for Rachmaninoff, this was Tchaikovsky; for Piazolla, Vivaldi; and for Shostakovich, his dear friend Ivan Sollertivsky. In this Memorial Weekend concert, which we have entitled In Memoriam, we, too, will seek to put our own flare on these remarkable works.
We also wish to thank our very special patron and longtime supporter, Eileen Klimkowski, who has generously agreed to underwrite the substantial rental costs for this performance. This concert would not have been possible without her.
***Directions to hall: Enter the lobby of the Overcash building through the main entrance facing Kings Drive and Uptown Charlotte. Take the stairs or elevator on the right to the second floor. Signs will be posted directing you to the entrance of Tate Hall.
